Construction needs Residential buildings are for people to live in. Commercial buildings, on the other hand, have many purposes that can affect design. On paper, it seems that commercial design follows the same process. Architects create buildings with strong infrastructure that meets local building regulations, but there are significant differences.
Commercial buildings are often larger than residential buildings, requiring greater responsibility for safety and structural integrity. In most cases, construction teams responsible for initiating commercial building projects are looking for the best architects with years of experience. Architects must understand these differences in order to meet the needs and desires of their clients. Whether you are dedicated to being a residential or commercial architect, it's important that you follow your heart and your passions.
Although my education and interests inspired me towards residential architecture, Bob was passionate about construction, institutional architecture and critical regionalism, an approach to architecture that gives importance to the geography and local culture of a place. I would only add that, in my situation, it was much more difficult to move from one residential building to another type of building than to move between other types of buildings (from schools to medical centers, for example) not because of the difficulty of the work, but because the opportunity to do so is very rare. In many commercial buildings, more emphasis needs to be placed on impressive design elements, since the building itself can be a tribute to the company that commissioned it. Not only do contractors need to enlarge those spaces, but they also use different construction materials that residential buildings don't usually use.
The main purpose of residential architecture is to create enough designs to create a home in which people can enjoy living for years. Residential architecture generally focuses on the interior of the house, providing spacious rooms, a functional kitchen, etc. In addition to the width of the building, commercial architecture also has several hidden areas that residential architecture does not have. And the areas needed by commercial buildings are usually larger than the spaces in most residential architecture, especially if the building is vast and has several floors.
Different architects can meaningfully and effectively serve different clients in unique and important ways. As mentioned a while ago, there is no need to build the most expensive residential property to achieve maximum comfort.
